Call A Stranger is a public installation exploring spontaneous human connection. Custom-built phone boxes placed in parks allow strangers in different neighborhoods to connect through simple voice calls = no screens, no profiles, just a handset and a moment.
I designed and fabricated the enclosures and built the communication system using Raspberry Pi, SIP protocol, and custom audio routing. The experience is intentionally minimal: pick up the phone, someone else picks up theirs, and two strangers talk.
The project questions what "connection" looks like when stripped of interfaces and identity, demonstrating how a small amount of technology, thoughtfully framed, can create deeply human experiences in public space.
